Obituary for Rodney James Fetterolf

Rodney James Fetterolf, 78, of Grand Detour, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon, IL. Rodney was a Civil Engineer for over 35 years. He worked for Illinois Department of Transportation and Willet Hoffmann prior to his retirement.

Rodney was born March 29, 1940, in Freeport, IL, the son of Horace and Rudy (Edlefson) Fetterolf. He Married Doris “Dodie” Jean Koons on December 20, 1964 in Ohio, IL. Rodney received his Bachelors Degree from the University of Illinois and a Masters Degree from Penn State in Engineering. He was a member of ISPE (IL Society of Professional Engineers) and a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church. Rodney also served as a Chairman of Trustee and on the Board for the Dixon Rural Fire Department for a number of years. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and most of all spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Doris “Dodie” Fetterolf of Grand Detour, IL; two sons Brian (Angela) Fetterolf of Batavia, IL, Andrew (Cara) Fetterolf of Washington, IL; three grand children Kaden, Mason and Kailynn; sister-in-law, Barbara Fetterolf; nieces, Deborah Fetterolf, Tammie (Rich) Bahling;

Rodney was preceded in death by his parents; one son Rodney Brent Fetterolf; and one brother, Berkley Fetterolf.

A memorial visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at First United Methodist Church in Dixon with Rev. Tim Mitchell and Rev. Heewon Kim, co-officiating. Burial of cremated remains will be at Grand Detour Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to FUMC Men and Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon, IL.
