Obituary for Chall Augustine Jenkins

Chall Augustine Jenkins, 74, of Dixon, IL left this world peacefully to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at his home in Dixon after spending a happy Christmas with his beloved family.

Chall was born on October 31, 1944 in Fargo, North Dakota. Chall was the son of Melvin R. Jenkins and Sarah (Sadie) M. Evenson (Jerry). Chall studied at Moorhead State University in Moorhead, Minnesota. He married Janis Anderson on November 25, 1966, and the two continued a friendship and family that endured. Chall and Janis moved to North Park, IL in 1973, where Chall worked for Pittsburgh Paint and Glass (PPG). Later, Chall was employed as a drill supervisor for the Illinois Department of Transportation, where he retired after 21 years of service.

In his retirement, Chall enjoyed spending time with his family, at his camper in Elks Page Park, campfires, great music, and a great game of cards. Chall loved to dance and would pull anyone willing to join him on the dance floor whenever music was playing. Chall was an avid sports fan and thoroughly enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and watching Dale Earnhardt race around the circle track. Chall was a proud member of the Teamsters, the Elks, the Moose and the L.L.L. Society. Chall was a gentle giant with a warm soul who loved a great joke and his sense of humor brought happiness to all who knew him! Above all else, Chall enjoyed spending time in conversation and laughter with his family and friends. Chall was a loving father, attentive grandfather, cherished brother and special friend.

Chall will be deeply missed by all who loved him. He leaves behind two children, Chall Alan (Tami) Jenkins, of Overland Park, KS, Wendy Sue Holder of Machesney Park, IL, two grandsons whom he was extremely proud of, Chall and Caleb Jenkins of Overland Park, KS, his former wife, Janis Albeck, of Loves Park, IL, his brother Larry (Denise) Jenkins of Fargo, ND, nieces and nephews and special friends. Chall also leaves behind two grandkittens, Addison and Sammi.

Chall is now reunited with his parents and dear friends who preceded him.
